Book the gas safety check or EICR
When a check is due, send it to your gas engineer or electrician in one tap, then record the new certificate or remedial work.
Updated 25 October 2026
As a gas safety record or EICR comes up for renewal, its card on the property’s page can send the check to your trade. It goes as a job, the way a repair does.
Send to the trade’s name shows from 6 weeks before a gas safety check is due, and from 3 months before an EICR. Until an EICR’s card appears, its Send is on its row under Certificates and alarms.
- Open the property from Properties, and find the check’s card.
- Check the trade it names, and the date they’re asked to do it by.
- Tap Send to the trade’s name. It goes in one tap, with no form.
- The check’s own page opens, and asks whether you want to ring them.
The card names your trade for that kind of repair under Account › Trades, else whoever did the last check there. Where the app has your tenant’s email, they’re emailed when it goes, and the trade gets their number only once they take it.
On Standard and Extra
Where WhatsApp can reach the trade’s number, the button is Send by Email and WhatsApp. It sends the email and opens your own WhatsApp at their chat.
With nobody suitable on file, the card offers Add a Gas Engineer, or a button to add an electrician. Fill in their details, with a gas engineer’s Gas Safe registration number, and tap Save and Send.
After it’s sent
Once they’ve taken it, Add Their Date records the day they gave you. After that day, the card asks whether the check happened.
- Tap Add the New Record. The certificate form opens with its type chosen.
- Enter the new record’s dates, and tap Add Certificate. The check is then done.
If it didn’t happen, choose It Didn’t Happen… from the More button, to record no access, ring them or send it to someone else. Update Certificate stays in the More button throughout.
When an EICR needs remedial work
- Under Certificates and alarms, tap the More button on the EICR’s row, then Edit Dates.
- Choose Unsatisfactory under Overall assessment, and enter any earlier date the report gives for the work.
- Tap Save Dates.
The work then has its own card, sent to an electrician the same way. Once it’s done, tap Record the Work Done and enter the day. The card then counts down to the written confirmation, until you tap Record Written Confirmation. The app sends nothing to your tenant or the council for it.
What the law says about the dates
- Each gas appliance and flue you’re responsible for must be checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer within 12 months of installation. After that, it must be checked at intervals of no more than 12 months.
- The electrical installation must be inspected and tested by a qualified person at intervals of no more than 5 years. If the last report gives an earlier date, it must be done by then.
- Remedial work a report requires must be done by a qualified person within 28 days, starting with the day of the inspection. It is due sooner if the report says so.
- You then get written confirmation of the work from a qualified person. You give it, with the report, to each existing tenant and the council within 28 days of the work.
