Add your trades and choose who gets what

Add a trade, choose who gets each kind of repair and how much they can spend, and whether repairs go to them automatically.

Updated 24 October 2026

Your trades are listed under People › Trades. Who gets which repair, and how, is set under Account › Trades.

Add a trade

  1. Tap People, then Trades, then Add Trade.
  2. Fill in Name, Line of work and Phone.
  3. Add their Email. Repairs are sent there.
  4. For a gas engineer, add their Gas Safe registration number.
  5. Tap Add Trade.

To change a trade, tap Edit beside them, then Save Trade. After a change of email address, links already sent to the old one stop working, and a fresh one goes to the new address.

Choose who gets each kind of repair

  1. Go to Account › Trades.
  2. Tap the line beside Plumbing, Heating and gas, Electrics or Anything else. It reads Not chosen: tap to choose until you do.
  3. Pick the trade.

Only a trade with an email address can be chosen. For Heating and gas, they also need a Gas Safe number, and a line of work that names gas, heating or a boiler. Plumbing, heating and gas, and electrics never go to your Anything else trade. Other kinds, such as roofs or locks, go to it unless you choose someone.

Set how much a trade can spend

Tap the line beside Spending, and choose an amount or Nothing: they ring me first. The amount includes VAT and any call-out charge, and over it the trade rings you first. Trades see it with each repair you send them, as your instruction. The app doesn’t pay anyone.

The number trades ring you on

Trades see your number with each repair you send them, to ring you about getting in or the cost. Set up your homes asks for it once, on its Out of hours card. With Trades ring me on this number too ticked, trades get your out-of-hours number. To give them a different one, untick it and fill in Number for trades.

Account › Trades shows the number as Trades ring you on. To change it, tap that line, type the number under Phone number and tap Save. Repairs already sent keep the number they went with.

How repairs reach your trades

How repairs reach your trades, below your trades on Account › Trades, says when a repair goes to your trade. On Free, each repair waits for you to tap Send, emergencies too. You can still make the choice there: it’s kept, and starts once your plan includes it.

On Standard and Extra

Tap the line to choose Straight away, every time, Emergencies straight away; the rest when I tap Send, or Only when I tap Send. Some things always wait for you: a fire, someone hurt, something giving way, a power cut in the street.
