The daily email and the Reminders bell

The app can email you one summary a day, on the days something is new. It also lists your reminders under the bell at the top of the screen. You choose what the email holds, and when, under Account › Notifications and this phone.

Get the daily email

1. Go to Account, and under Settings tap Notifications and this phone.
2. Under Email, check that Email me a summary is on.
3. Open What’s included, and when. Its line says what the email holds now, and at what time.
4. Under What’s included, choose what goes in it: Rent dates, Legal dates and Repairs.
5. Under When, choose a time under Send it at. Times are UK time.
6. Under Email, tap Send Test to see one in your inbox.

Each change saves as you make it, with no Save button. The email comes from alerts@selfmanaged.co.uk to your sign-in address. It lists each date with its property’s address and the rule behind it, and never a tenant’s name or an amount.

Rent dates asks whether the rent has arrived, the day after each rent date and again a week later. Legal dates covers deposits, certificates and copies given, pet requests and rent increases. Repairs is your own reminder about a repair with no update for 7 days, or a booked day that has passed, and not a legal deadline.

The check runs each night from 1am, so the summary lists what’s new that day. The app works the same with these off: Properties always shows what’s due.

See your reminders

1. Tap the bell at the top of a tab’s first screen. It opens Reminders.
2. Under Open, the newest are first, and unread ones are in bold. Tap one to go where it can be answered: opening it marks it read.
3. Tap Mark All as Read to clear the bold.

Under Earlier are the reminders that are no longer on Properties. The top of the screen says when the reminders were last checked. The bell shows no number: a screen reader hears how many are new in its name.

Stop the daily email

• In the email, tap the unsubscribe link at the foot, then tap Unsubscribe on the page it opens.
• Or go to Account › Notifications and this phone and turn off Email me a summary.

If the link has stopped working, turn the email off in the app instead. Your reminders stay under the bell either way.
